      <image:title>Celebrancy - My services - My services</image:title>
<image:caption>I love helping couples express their love and commitment to each other in their own unique way, and in their own chosen environment. I am able to officiate anywhere within Northern Ireland; mountains, beaches, sea-side - you choose! Your ceremony should reflect who you both are, and capture the essence of who you hope to become together. With my theological training I can offer you a relaxed, non-denominational wedding ceremony with the option of Bible readings, prayers and blessings. Alternatively, you and your partner may prefer something closer to a meaningful civil or humanist ceremony, with more contemporary, non-religious wording and vows. Love is love is love – all my services are inclusive and accessible to all lovely humans. I can also guide you with your vows, which can be as freestyle or as traditional as you’d like! It will be my privilege to facilitate a unique ceremony that is meaningful to you, your family and your guests.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Wedding booked, what's next? - Giving notice</image:title>
<image:caption>Once we are within 12 months of the ceremony date, we can give notice to the district registrar which is a legal requirement for all couples wishing to marry in Northern Ireland. Notice can be served anytime from 12 months up to a minimum of 28 days before the ceremony. There is normally a fee of £22 each which is payable to the registrar. To complete this step, I will email you the signed forms you will need in order to give notice. You will need to print these forms (one set each) and then complete the relevant sections. Your completed forms then need to be sent to the registrar of the district where the ceremony will be taking place - along with any supporting documents such as birth certificates etc. (It’s best to check first, but registrars will normally accept photocopied/scanned forms and ID documents for giving notice. However, they will need to see the originals when you go to collect your Schedule of Marriage, as explained below). Having received your notice forms, the registrar will perform the necessary checks and then produce a Schedule of Marriage document around 10 days before your wedding date. This document must be collected in person by one of the intended parties to be married. The Schedule of Marriage must be brought to the ceremony by one of the parties to be married, and it is then signed during your wedding by yourselves, two witnesses (who can be anyone over the age of 16) and by myself.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Wedding booked, what's next? - Planning the ceremony</image:title>
<image:caption>The next step is to arrange an informal chat about your ceremony. Most couples find a video call convenient, but meeting in person is also possible. This would usually happen a few months before the ceremony, but allowances can also be made for short-notice weddings where appropriate. The purpose of our conversation is to discuss the ceremony options and any specific ideas you may have. For example you may wish to think about: Would you like background music for arriving guests as they wait for the ceremony to begin? Would you like music for the processional, during the signing of the marriage documents and/or for the recessional? Would you like any readings or addresses, and who you would like to present these? Will you be exchanging wedding rings? Have you thought about your marriage and ring vows and whether you would like to use traditional or contemporary ones, or even write your own? Have you thought about who your legal witnesses will be? Are there any religious elements you would like included such as prayers, blessings or hymns? Is there anything you definitely don’t want? After we chat I should have everything I need to put together a personalised ceremony for you and it’s then just a case of waiting for the big day itself. In the meantime feel free to get in touch if any changes need to be made.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About</image:title>
<image:caption>I was born and bred in the (North of) Ireland… and love the green, the grey and the beauty of our beaches and shores. I have led and facilitated groups for years. After preaching and speaking and being persuaded to lead naming ceremonies and blessings for friends I have branched into celebrancy and have had the privilege of leading gorgeous ceremonies over the last few years. I am a person of faith so have the flexibility to incorporate faith language into your wedding or to provide a non-religious ceremony. I am associated with Harbour Faith Community in Carrickfergus, a progressive faith community who welcome everyone. I love working with LGBTQIA+ and heteronormative couples. I work in the NHS in NI as a Senior leader. I work with lots of people behind the scenes to help make the part of health and social care I work in more effective. I’m good with numbers, but I love planning and developing strategy and my passion is helping people work well together and empowering them to improve the services we are delivering. I have a Masters in Healthcare Leadership, a Postgrad Diploma in leading for Quality Improvement and a Postgrad in Executive Coaching. I have a young son who is the joy of my life (when I’m not cleaning his scribbles off the walls) and we live in Belfast - think red bricks, urban parks and good coffee… although weekends are spent in muddy forests or by the sea. I care about injustice and want to help change the world for the better. I studied theology and religion as my primary degrees at university and have been a commentator on the BBC for nearly twenty years. You can find me speaking on BBC Thought for the Day via BBC Sounds.</image:caption>
